The area that I operate was founded by my parents, Hap and Clara Bowden who guided this area since the early 1950's before guide areas were established.
I purchased the area in 1977 and Lori joined me in 1978 and we have operated the same area since that time. I have spent my whole life in this area guiding clients and trapping since I was in my early teens, some 42 years now. Lori has brought a career in nursing to the business and since all of our children have grown up and left for greener pastures, we now have built a new lodge in the middle of our area to spend and share the beauty of this country with our clients.

Another year has passed by and wondering how can one year pass so fast.
After our winter shows in the U.S. and our convention in Kelowna, Lori went to Mexico with one of our daughters then off to Disneyland with our other daughter and grandchildren. Our son and I slipped away to South Africa on a safari . I took a nice cape buffalo and a wart hog, while Mitch took six animals, making it back just before Black Bear hunts.
We had 15 clients taking 17 bears, 11 of them were over seven feet and made our record book, so it was a great season. We have some Beauties out here.
Our summer was wet compared to the previous two years , well at least we didn't have fires and smoke.
Our fall started out warm, with the first hunt being conducted out of Wells , there was no frost the whole hunt. Moose were high up still, we had two clients on this hunt, they were both pleased to go home with their moose.
Our second hunt back to our main Lodge and camp. We had four clients on this hunt, and all four of them got their moose.
Our third hunt we also had a group of four clients who all had hunted with us for 10 years. Two moose were taken on this hunt. On this hunt we encountered a lot of wind and warm temperatures, the animals had held up in the heavy timber making them hard to pursue.
Our fourth hunt we had a group of four new clients. The moose were still rutting and they took two moose and a five by four mule deer. Normally the rut is done by November, however the warm windy weather in October changed the rut this year.
Our last hunt we had two repeat clients, one 89 years young who bagged another bull for the freezer. The other client shot one but did not retrieve it as the shot was not fatal. It will be around next year to try again.
We had 16 moose clients, 11 moose killed, three clients had opportunity, two never.
December we started our predator hunts with our hound guides taking a nice cougar, rough score, should be #8 in Boone and Crocket, also took a couple of nice lynx.
Safe travels, shoot straight until the next trip on the mountain.
All the best in 2020,
Brad and Lori Bowden
