The area that I operate was founded by my parents, Hap and Clara Bowden who guided this area since the early 1950's before guide areas were established.
I purchased the area in 1977 and Lori joined me in 1978 and we have operated the same area since that time. I have spent my whole life in this area guiding clients and trapping since I was in my early teens, some 42 years now. Lori has brought a career in nursing to the business and since all of our children have grown up and left for greener pastures, we now have built a new lodge in the middle of our area to spend and share the beauty of this country with our clients.

Merry Christmas Everyone, December 20th, 2016
Hope this finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy!!
Our Spring Black and Grizzly hunts went well , every one bagged out at 100%, with only one Black Bear that did not make the Mountain Hunter Record Book. All in all a very successful spring hunt with a great bunch of clients. One of these hunts was donated for a disabled child through Youth Outdoors. Young Zachary bagged his bear on his first day filling one of his dreams. Huge thanks to Joe and Cindy from Youth Outdoors for making this trip happen. On the Grizzly hunt, after seeing signs of a big boar we went down the same area 3 days in a row, walking down an old logging road came face to face with Mr. Grizz at approximately 40 yards. The largest Grizzly I have taken, his age was 20-30 years old. We returned back to our main lodge where he also took a book Black Bear to finish his hunt.
Our summer was a challenge with the unpredictable weather we had. Our summer was a wet one. It would not let up, things would just start to dry out then the monsoons would hit again. We are building an outside kitchen for summer occasions and it is still under construction. The rain would not stop to get it finished. It will be waiting for us to finish in the spring as don’t think any ANGEL will be coming to finish it for us. We are excited to have this completed in the spring.
Our Fall season started out in Wells, B.C. where I conduct my first hunt with a family group of 3 from Ellensburg Washington. We started out with a bang for sure!! We bagged 2 Moose and a Black Bear on Day 1, another Moose on Day 2 and another Black Bear to finish the hunt. The rest of the hunt this group had the pleasure of fishing and touring the country and taking in a live show at the Historic Tourism Town Site of Barkerville, one of the main tourist spots within the Cariboo Chilcotin Region. A must visit while in our area.
Our next group Hunt #2 was back at base camp with a group of 5, 3 repeat clients and 2 newcomers. The weather was great and the Moose were rutting and were everywhere. Everybody got respectable Moose, all bagged out within the first 4 days. The largest was 54” wide, the grouse were plentiful and all who had upland bird tags took home their limit. Happy Group of Boys!!
Hunt #3, we had a group of 3, repeat clients and a non hunter. The hunt started out great bagging a moose right off the start, then the weather took to storming, lightning, gale winds, trees falling and the game went into hiding making it very tough to hunt. Very disheartened dealing with bad weather. So one moose taken out of three clients on this hunt.
Our last hunt we had 3 repeat clients all bagging their moose and a nice 5 by 4 Mule Deer taken by one client. Also taking their limits of Grouse.
It was a great season, we only had two fellows that never bagged their Moose, Sorry to Norm Schafer and Warren Caldwell due to our weather turning nasty on the third hunt. We hope to help you bag one another time , if we get the chance .
In all we had a great year with a great bunch of clients and many memories made.
Thanks to our guides Ian Nugent, Tyler Hogg, Johnny Nikirk and Curt Gassoff.
We will be attending the Puyallup show on January 25th-29th, 2017, and Portland show February 8-12th, 2017. We look forward to your visits to our booth.
